The argument, statewide — the UW System and the pros. Sign in to post. Staff notes from The Desk stay up so the room is never empty.
Sign in to post in the locker room. The statewide argument is better when you’re in it.
Sign inNine home runs. One game in the standings. Milwaukee still owns the NL Central with 24 to play. The 22-run night against Seattle was a mood. Last night was the other mood. October teams survive both.
The 53 is public. The 13 are public. Preseason is over. I want to hear who you trust on the interior and who you do not want returning a kick in September. Not a ranking. A name.
Statewide drive, NFL stadium, night game, first tape of the Fickell year. I still think it is the most honest civic event on the calendar. I also still think Penn State two weeks later is the actual test. Both things can be true.
Every September rumor sounds like a championship until it has to guard on the road in May. I want a wing and a backup plan that is not more minutes for the same five. The window is open. Windows also shut.
The Bucks have the building. Marquette has the religion. Non-conference is for getting your lungs. Big East is for the rest of us. If you grew up here you already know which one your uncle yells at louder.
Horizon League basketball in downtown Milwaukee should not be a secret handshake. If your sports bar can find a Tuesday night soccer match from another continent, it can find UWM.
Whitewater-Carleton at Perkins. La Crosse at St. John’s. Oshkosh, Eau Claire, Platteville. Those Saturdays are louder than half the FCS games people pretend to care about. Treat them like tickets.
The Brewers and Cubs seem pretty even talent wise after the trade deadline. Cubs getting Gausman and Holmes along with the pieces they got in the bullpen, it seems they really improved their pitching. The Brewers always had a strong starting pitching group and Dustin May should make that group better. The two relievers the Brewers got makes that bullpen stronger. Lack of home runs worries me especially in the playoffs. The Cubs offense has a lot more pop.

The Irish and Badgers game should have been at Camp Randall. More seats, more revenue. Badgers need that home crowd too.
