Badgers, Panthers, Phoenix, Rangers, Warhawks, Eagles, Titans, Blugolds, Pioneers, Pointers, Blue Devils, Falcons, Yellowjackets. That is the System. Treat it like one.
People say “Wisconsin sports” and mean Lambeau, American Family Field, the Forum, and Camp Randall. Fine. Those buildings pay the bills and eat the oxygen.
The University of Wisconsin is also Kenosha, Whitewater, La Crosse, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, Platteville, Stevens Point, Menomonie, River Falls, and Superior. It is Milwaukee and Green Bay wearing Horizon League uniforms. It is a D3 football league that has sent more teams to national title games than most states send to the NCAA tournament.
The Desk is done treating WIAC Saturdays as a weather delay on the way to a Big Ten preview. If you grew up in this state you already picked a campus. If you didn’t, pick one now. The scores will be here either way.
