Green Bay’s college team plays in the shadow of a cathedral. That’s the job.

The Phoenix do not get Lambeau Sundays. They get the Resch, the Horizon, and a city that already knows how to show up.
UW-Green Bay basketball will never out-shout the Packers, and it should not try. The Phoenix exist in the most famous small market in American sports, which is both a recruiting pitch and a weekly reminder that you are the other poster in the bar.
The Resch Center can be a tough building when the students are in and the Horizon race is tight. That is the product. Not a mini-Lambeau. A campus program with a real identity, a green-and-white that is not a knockoff of the pro team, and a fan base that understands weather.
The Desk’s assignment is the same as it is for Milwaukee: cover the games, cover the league, and stop treating the state’s mid-majors as a weather delay.
